Smart fundraisers buy class iPad

PUPILS at Jericho School are the proud owners of an iPad – after raising the funds to buy it themselves.
Children at the Whitehaven primary school were challenged to come up with their own fundraising ideas to buy a class iPad.
After a brainstorming session, they decided to create two ‘Friday Night In’ hampers, complete with chocolate and DVDs, and sell tickets to raffle the prizes.
They quickly achieved the total needed, and were presented with the iPad, which they can use for homework and other school tasks, in a special assembly at the end of last term.
Teacher Andrew Barton said: “This has been an amazing project. The children and their parents have been outstanding in their effort and contribution.
“This proves just what can be achieved by collectively working towards one goal. In times of austerity, once again the parents of Jericho have been fantastic.”
Mr Barton now plans to work with other classes in their own iPad fundraisers.
