Six guns stolen in farm raid

SIX shot guns are among a large quantity of items stolen from a farm at Lamplugh.

Thieves broke into an office building and container at Gatra Farm overnight of April 16/17.

Six shotguns were taken from the owner's gun cabinet. There was also a red 'Outlander' Quad Bike stolen from a barn on the property along with two petrol strimmer’s and a large quantity of power tools. It is believed the offenders may have left the area by crossing farm land and cutting a fence in the process.

Police are appealing for any information that can assist the investigation, especially if any of the above items are offered for sale.

It is likely that another vehicle was used in this offence and anyone who witnessed anything or has any information can contact Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to DC Millar at Workington CID. Alternatively they can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously.

Police are reminding homeowners and farm owners to secure their property and outbuildings and to report any suspicious behaviour.

Those living in a rural location can keep up to date with anything happening in their area via Cumbria Community Messaging and/or Farmwatch.
