Sellafield staff ‘are working too long’

KEY Sellafield workers are seen to be in danger of fatigue by working too long, especially in areas of higher risk.
Well said boredofthebull. It's a load of old rubbish that the 'shop floor' folk keep sellafield running. Ive been on both sides as an apprentice & craft then onto a 'pen pusher' now to know who really gets thing done. If it wasn't for us pen pushers sellafield would be closed as the shop floor don't have the first clue as to what goes on. To use a phrase from my building, "I wouldn't pay some of them with washers!!"
What a shame it is to see the typical blinkered view of 'its us who do the work innit' never been anywhere else or done nothing scourge of sellafield bringing the rest of the workforce down to their depths. Im sure that during your 3-4 hours spannertime a day you make a huge difference whilst forgetting you are part of a huge chain of controls designed to keep the place going safely and preserve your livelehood. Overpaid eh lads? Find another place where basic work gets you such a premium and if you are lucky enough an extra 10k to be on shift, never mind turning up in the morning and going home carefree at the end of the day! Just remember without the pen pushers all those instructions you use, all those licences to operate etc. and yourselves wouldnt exist. Fortunately Ive seen pretty much every level of SL and seen how each resents the rest, with the small minded view that the others are doing nothing whilst 'we' are doing the 'jobs'. Grow up lads!

Have your say
I agree. I've worked through all levels from apprentice to 'pen pusher' and my overriding memory is that the higher you go the more you do for less thanks. All the shop floor people think that the own & run the place which is a load of rubbish. I regularly work a 10 hour day for no extra pay or credit time and have very little opportunity to take leave. Shop floor guys should grow up and start to appreciate who really runs sellafield.
