Search still on for mssing man

THE family of a man who disappeared while trying to reach his dog in Ravenglass estuary have thanked those who have been searching for him.

A major search has been under way to find John Allen, who was on holiday in Cumbria with a group of family members. He went missing over a week ago, but so far there has been no sign of the 76-year-old.

Mr Allen’s family, from Preston, described John as a “keen, capable, mountain walker”. A statement said: “The family wish to express their deep gratitude to wider family, friends, the local community and numerous emergency organisations, in partic-ular Cumbria police and coastguards, for their unrelenting, ongoing support at this most difficult time.”
