Scary royals drop into Drigg for festival

THE Queen and James Bond visited Drigg over the weekend – but only in the shape of scarecrows.
As part of the annual harvest festival organised by St Peter’s Church, over 60 scarecrows decorated the village.
Adrienne Millington, warden at St Peter’s Church, said: “It was a wonderful weekend.
“The scarecrows were superb, everyone make a real effort.
“People were just stopping and laughing at them.’’
Pictures of the scarecrows will now be made into a calendar to be sold at Spindlecraft at Drigg Station with proceeds raised going towards St Peter’s Restoration Fund.
Following the harvest festival, gifts were then distributed to the community’s housebound or unwell, while the funds from the sale of the remaining produce will be divided between two charities, The Bishop of Carlisle’s Harvest for the Hungry Appeal and The Church Housing Trust.
