Road closed – by badgers
Published at 11:11, Thursday, 26 April 2012
A ROAD could be closed because badgers have built their home beneath the surface.
A minor road, off the A595 between Muncaster and Waberthwaite, had to be closed on Monday after motorists reported a pothole that had emerged on the surface.
The cause of the 1 sq ft hole was found to be badgers building a sett and undermining the road. The hole was repaired and the road reopened on Tuesday, but engineers from Cumbria County Council’s highways team are to investigate the extent of the damage and a full road closure could follow if repairs are needed.
