Remembering Rylan

TWO years on from the death of a popular schoolboy, dozens of youngsters marched to keep his memory alive on a sponsored walk.

Remembering Rylan: In the centre of the sponsored walk group are Kyhanna Herdman and Bethany Pattinson who organised the event

Rylan Cosgrove, aged nine, died in Furness Hospital on February 21, 2012, after suffering an asthma attack at his home in Millom.

His friends Kyhanna Herdman and her cousin Bethany Pattinson, both aged 12, attended Black Combe Junior School with the keen rugby player.

The pair organised the walk to raise money for the asthma clinic at Millom Hospital – and attracted the support of more than 70 of Rylan’s friends.

Kyhanna said: “We just wanted to do something for him.”

Bethany added: “He was very funny, he always made me laugh.”

Rylan’s mum Julie Stephenson, 35, said: “I didn’t know this many people would turn up. It’s lovely to know they are still thinking of him like this.”
