Red, white and blue firework special

A ROYAL red, white and blue theme will fill the skies on the Saturday night of the festival with a glittering fireworks display.
The packed harbourside is promised a patriotically colourful show to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
There will also be fireworks on the Friday night after the Katherine Jenkins concert.
Gerard Richardson has worked with Steve Illage, of Highlight Pyrotechnics, over the past 13 years to bring spectacular fireworks shows.
“One of the things I look forward to most is the fireworks displays,” said Gerard.
“Last year was a major disappointment when we couldn’t go ahead on the Saturday night – with minutes to go, the winds grew stronger and were blowing inland from the sea. It was the first time in the 13 years that we have had to cancel due to health and safety.
“But the public should be reassured that our systems and pyrotechnics are so robust we would never jeopardise public safety.”
He added: “The red, white and blue theme on Saturday will be perfect after Steve Harley has just finished singing (Come Up and See Me) Make Me Smile. We are very excited and think it will be a truly patriotic night.”
The fireworks will begin at any time between 10.30pm and 11pm on the Friday and Saturday nights, weather permitting.
