A SELECTION of vintage cars driven by members of the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain turned plenty of heads and attracted many admirers when they came to Whitehaven on Tuesday.
Parking up on The Hub on Whitehaven harbourside, the cars, most of which were 100 years old, ranged from a 1904 Darracq to a Model T Ford from 1915.
The vehicles, some only doing 11 miles to the gallon, had been brought to West Cumbria from Lancashire and Cheshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.
They included an American tourer, a Maxwell EA 30HP, a 1912 Fiat, a Delaunay Belleville, a Wolseley 16/20HP, a Talbot tourer 25/50HP, a Sunbeam 12/16HP, an Alvis and a Ford Roadster 20HP.
The Car Club, first founded in 1938, was enjoying a three-day trip to West Cumbria by its members of the north-west section, organised by Philip Johnston of Coniston.
The party were staying at the Pennington Hotel, Ravenglass, and enjoyed a gala dinner at Muncaster Castle last night.
The cars may have also been spotted out and about at St Bees, Seascale, Wasdale and Eskdale.
