Pigeon Detectives return to the town

CHART-TOPPERS The Pigeon Detectives are set to rock Whitehaven once again with a hotly-anticipated return gig in town.
The indie stars, who thrilled crowds with their headline set at last year’s At The Playground festival, have announced that they will play Whitehaven Civic Hall on Friday, April 26, as part of a national tour.
Details of the tour – and a new album – were revealed exclusively by DJ Zane Lowe on Radio One on Tuesday night.
The gig has been organised by local promoters The Mighty Boof, and is just weeks before the third annual At The Playground festival in Whitehaven.
The Boof’s Josh Shepherd said: “With it just being three weeks before At The Playground, it’s a great way to warm up for it by having last year’s headliners return to play in Whitehaven again.”
Danny Maudling added: “It’s another big name coming to the Civic in its proposed final year [due to council cuts], and a chance for fans to help show support for the venue.”
The Pigeon Detectives have enjoyed huge success with two top five albums (Wait For Me in 2007 and Emergency the following year) and a string of hit singles, most notably Romantic Type and I’m Not Sorry.
Tickets are £12.50 and are available from Threads, 16 King Street, (01946 690008) or Whitehaven Civic Hall (01946 514960).
Tickets are also on sale for At The Playground (May 18/19) and The Boof’s Save The Civic gig (March 29). See page 24 for details.
