Charity challenge

£440 has been raised in aid of Breast Cancer Research, thanks to a Charity Challenge carried out by members of The Leisure Club, Howgill Street, Whitehaven. They actually raised £220 which was doubled by neighbours, Jackson’s Timber. Those who took part had to run, cycle, row, swim or ski the equivalent length of the UK. The first to complete the Challenge was Cath Melvin, from Whitehaven. She said “ I was happy to take part, my mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer six years ago, and got the all clear last year”. Pictured are those who took part, warming up for their regular class, with front left, Louisa Heaney, Leisure Club manager and Cath Melvin with the cheques.
