Anger at director’s ditty

THE finance director of Allerdale Council has come under fire for sending a POEM to a driver when he tried to get a ticket quashed.
Carole Carre penned the 16-line ditty to astonished motorist Andrew Lynch when he appealed against a £30 fine for parking on the pavement in Keswick.
Mr Lynch, of Fleetwood, Lancashire, was amazed to receive the poem, and hit out at Ms Carre, saying she “clearly has too much time on [her] hands”.
The first sarcastic stanza of the poem read: “Park only and wholly in a clearly marked bay/ That’s what the signs in the car park say.”
Mr Lynch, a shipping coordinator, replied with a verse of his own, describing the parking attendant as “a grumpy old bag” and vowing to take his holidays elsewhere next year.
He wrote: “I failed to park in the clearly marked bay/ It was done in all innocence, what more can I say?”
But the council turned down his appeal and even lost his cheque.
His wife Barbara, 43, said: “If they spent more time on their filing system and less time on their poems then maybe they wouldn’t have lost the cheque.”
