Parting is such sweet sorrow!

A MOTHER and daughter double act were the mane attraction when they chopped off their locks off at a fun day.

Short back and sides: Alicia McGuire, 7, and mum Sophia, with their cut off hair.

Sophia McGuire and seven-year-old Alicia have raised over £1,500 for the Little Princess Trust.

The duo, who both had long hair, have given a massive 31.5 inches to the charity who make wigs for sick children.

Sophia, of Mirehouse, said: “It’s really strange, whenever I touch my hair it ends really quickly now.”

The mum-of-two said she was more nervous about Alicia getting her hair chopped and became so emotional she even cried.

She said: “We organised a fun day to try and raise as much as possible. There were so many people who had turned out to support us I just couldn’t believe what we had achieved.”

The fun day raised £800 with all the proceeds from, raffles, stalls and games going to the cause.

To congratulate Alicia on going under the scissors she was given presents and a photo shoot.
