A SPECIAL gold coin is up for sale for £2,880 at Whitehaven Post Office.
It may be pricey but there’s only one and it’s a case of first come, first served.
It’s struck in 22 carat gold to mark the countdown to this summer’s London Olympics.
The Royal Mint has produced a limited edition of only 3,000 – Whitehaven Post Office has number 2,500.
“It has been specially created for the occasion and will serve as a lasting reminder of this fantastic period in sporting history,” says the Royal Mint.
The coin features a dynamic image of a cyclist and the Olympic logo in full colour.
All told, The Mint has issued an exclusive limited edition of four different UK gold coins during the Olympics countdown.
It is to donate a percentage of the sale proceeds to the London 2012 Olympics.
