Olympic effort by knitters

KNITTERS got stuffing at a special event to finish 68 cushions made by Cumbrians for Olympians.
The special effort involved groups from across the county, including the Eden Valley Guild of Spinners and Weavers, Ireby Women’s Institute and many individuals. The cushions were brought together to be stuffed at Eskdale Craft and Craic Group last Friday.
Dawn Pickles, who organised the event, said: “In total we are sending 68 beautiful cushions to greet the athletes and para-athletes from around the world and to serve as a lasting reminder of their time in the UK.
“Each cushion bears a label giving the maker's name and personal message for the recipient.”
Many of the cushions were made from Cumbrian wool and all used British yarn.
Cushions must be sent to Dawn Pickles by March 23 Contact her on dawn@woolsack.org
