No insurance
PARTON resident Stephen Graham has been fined for driving without insurance. Magistrates found the case against Graham, 23, of Bankyard Road, proved in his absence.
The defendant admitted a further charge of possessing cannabis – a Class B drug. He was given fines totalling £150, plus £100 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. Magistrates ordered forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
Faulty tyre
DRIVING with a defective tyre has cost Sarah Kennedy, 23, of Sneckyeat Grove, Whitehaven, a fine £150. Magistrates found the case against her proved in absence. Costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge were also imposed.
No reg plate
DARREN Moore, 38, of Main Street, Hensingham, was been fined £150 for failing to display a registration plate on a trailer his vehicle was pulling. The case against Moore was proved in his absence. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Jail for man
A WHITEHAVEN man has been jailed for possessing a kitchen knife in public.
Michael Roberts, 41, of King Street, pleaded guilty to the offence that took place on Lowther Street. He also admitted failing to answer bail and was jailed for a total of 70 days.
Motorcylist fined
A MOTORCYCLIST has been fined for two driving offences. Gary O’Driscoll, 37, of Foundry Road, Parton, admitted failing to comply with a road sign on the A66 at the Stainburn bypass. He also admitted failing to produce his driving licence to police.
Magistrates ordered him to pay a £70 fine, with £50 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
