Touched woman in the street
AN EGREMONT man has been sentenced to a community supervision order after admitting sexually touching a woman over 16.
Darren Lee Betteridge, 38, of Croft Terrace, followed a woman in the town, told her he fancied her and tried to touch her on the bottom, Carlisle Crown Court heard.
Judge Peter Hughes QC imposed the three-year supervision order. Betteridge must attend the Northumbria Sex Offenders Group Programme and stay at his home address.
Car blaze
FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a car fire near Rowrah last Friday (August 17).
Crews received reports at around 2.40pm that a car was on fire on the back road from Wath Brow to Kirkland School. It took around 10 minutes for firefighters to put out the blaze.
The driver of the BMW contacted police to say the vehicle had set alight. No injuries were caused in the incident.
No insurance
AFTER admitting using a vehicle without insurance, Andrew Pratt, 47, of Carleton, Holmrook, was fined £150 with £50 costs and a £15 surcharge by magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse.
