Fun day for all at Parton

A FANCY dress competition, football cage and climbing wall are just some of the attractions expected at Parton fun day.

It takes place on Sunday, July 1, 11am-4pm, in and around the village hall area.

There will be cash prizes for the fancy dress competition split into two age groups – under eights and over eights – and Copeland’s Mayor will be judging.

Other attractions will be a Punch and Judy, a magic show, archery and science experiments with Professor Boffin. There will also be a local produce area for people who sell plants, crafts and home-made goods.

Teenager fined

REGGIE Jay Bennett, 18 of Main Street, Egremont, has been fined £40 by magistrates after he failed to comply with a direction given by a police officer to leave an area of Duke Street, Whitehaven. The officer was concerned Bennett may cause alcohol-related disorder.

Bennett admitted the offence and was further ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £15 surcharge.

Shoplift fine

STEALING two cans of aerosol from a shop has landed a Whitehaven woman with a £15 fine.

Kimberley Louise Friel, 22, of Moresby Parks Road, admitted the offences at West Cumbria Courthouse last week.

She was also ordered to pay £2 compensation to the Moresby Parks Store.

Failed to comply

A WHITEHAVEN man has been fined £60 for failing to comply with a direction given by a police officer.

Philip Samuel Flavell, 19, of Copeland Avenue, admitted the offence at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. He was also ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
