Classic cars in harbour visit
THE Veteran Car Club of Great Britain is paying a visit to Whitehaven harbour on Tuesday bringing around a dozen classic cars for people to enjoy and admire.
It’s part of a three-day trip to the west of the county by members of the north-west section of the club. It has been organised by Philip Johnston, of Coniston, who will be driving his 1910 Maxwell five-seater, an American tourer that does only 11 miles to the gallon.
The party are staying at the Pennington Hotel, Ravenglass, and will enjoy a gala dinner at Muncaster Castle on Wednesday. The cars may also be spotted at St Bees and Seascale and, on Wednesday, at Wasdale and Eskdale.
But on Tuesday (June 26), they will be parked up on The Hub on Whitehaven waterfront, between 2-3pm.
Cars vandalised
POLICE officers are seeking the person responsible for damaging cars in Frizington.
A number of cars were scratched while parked at Moor Place overnight on June 10/11 and 14/15.
Car attacked
A VANDAL poured paintstripper over a car and slashed three of its tyres in Haverigg.
The attack on Wilson Avenue took place between 7pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday. Police officers are investigating.
Messy church
LOVING your neighbour is the theme of Seascale’s messy church on Saturday.
Families are invited to the session which will take place at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall between 11am and 12.30pm. There will be a range of activities on offer for families.
Curfew
AFTER admitting a public order offence, Kelly Marie Lofthouse, 31, of Seven Acres, Parton, was placed on an eight-week curfew by magistrates from West Cumbria Courthouse. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
