Man jailed for burglary

A WHITEHAVEN man has been jailed for 120 days.

Ross Anthony Hardy, 27, of Valley View Road, admitted burglary and theft of straighteners and a camera worth a total of £100 from a house at Gameriggs Road. He also admitted failing to surrender to bail.

Magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse said they deemed the case “so serious’’ it required a prison sentence because Hardy had a record for “failing to comply with community orders fuelled by alcohol and drugs and a record for dishonesty.’’

Prison for resisting officers

A PARTON man has been jailed for 74 days after resisting two police officers.

Colin Hopkins, 46, of Criffel Road, admitted the offences against PC McKenzie and PC Stamper.

Magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse sent the defendant to prison after hearing he was already on a suspended jail sentence when he had committed the offences.

The court heard how PC McKenzie and PC Stamper were trying to assist the victim of the assaults for which Hopkins received the suspended sentence.

Curfew order extended

A MAN must complete an extended curfew order, magistrates have ruled.

The case against Carl Davin, 28, of The Hawthorns, Cleator Moor, was heard at West Cumbria Courthouse last week.

He admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.

The court heard that Davin had previously been ordered to carry out a curfew order.

Magistrates extended the order by a further four weeks. He must also pay £50 costs.

Man, 25, resentenced

A DISTINGTON man has been re-sentenced for stealing an X-box 360 game.

The case against Stuart Anthony Barrow, 25, of Bankside, was re-opened at West Cumbria Courthouse last week.

Magistrates heard Barrow had admitted on a previous occasion taking a FIFA Street game, worth £37.98, from HMV in Workington.

His previous sentence was revoked and he was ordered to complete a three-month curfew order.
