Speeding fine
SPEEDING in a 30mph zone has resulted in a Whitehaven man being fined.
Adam James Crispin, 29, of Rutland Avenue, admitted the offence at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. The court heard that a speed laser device recorded Crispin driving at 51mph along the St Bees Road.
Magistrates fined him £270, with £50 costs and a £15 victims surcharge.
Man stole food
A MIREHOUSE man has been fined £75 and ordered to pay compensation after stealing a cooked chicken from Tesco.
Steven Gillespie, 45, of Croasdale Avenue, admitted the offence at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. Magistrates ordered him to pay £4.30 compensation to the Whitehaven store, with £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Drugs fine
POSSESSING amphetamine has landed a Cleator Moor man with an £80 fine.
Graham McKinnon, 31, of Ennerdale Road, has admitted possessing the Class B drug during a hearing at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. He was fined £80, with £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Car damaged
DAMAGING a car has landed a Frizington woman in court.
Victoria Louise Close, 25, of Mill Street, admitted the offence at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. Magistrates ordered her to pay a £65 fine, with £50 compensation to the car’s owner. She must also pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
No insurance
A DISTINGTON man has been fined £400 for driving with no insurance.
The case against Malcolm Wylie, 54, of Coronation Crescent, was heard at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. The defendant admitted the offence and was ordered to pay £50 costs with a £15 victim surcharge.
Phone fine
A WHITEHAVEN man has been fined £60 for driving while using a mobile phone. The case against Dylan Antony Adamse, 21, of Herdus Road, was heard at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. He pleaded guilty.
Magistrates ordered him to pay £50 costs with a £15 victim surcharge.
Speeding charge
DRIVING five miles over the speed limit at Moresby has resulted in a Whitehaven woman being fined. Lorraine Margaret Johnstone, 46, of Earls Road, admitted driving at 35mph in the 30mph zone.
Magistrates at West Cumbria Courthouse fined her £50, with £50 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
