Bag-pack friends raise school cash
HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised by The Friends of Seascale School at a recent bag-packing event.
They were trying to raise as much money as possible for the school to help buy new computer equipment.
Kathleen Hartley said: “Pupils and parents enjoyed taking part in the voluntary fundraiser.
“They raised a total of £345 on the day.
“Thanks to Morrisons for allowing us to use their premises and to all the shoppers who gave so generously!”
Crash witnesses
POLICE officers are appealing for information about a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Whitehaven.
It happened at about 10.30am on Wednesday last week at Homewood Road, near the entrance to the West Cumberland Hospital.
Home break-in
A HOME in Cleator Moor has suffered a break-in.
The occupant of the house on Queen Street left just before 4pm and when he returned around 7.20pm, a locked door had been forced open and a tin containing £50 cash stolen from the kitchen.
Turkish talk
AN illustrated talk on the Turkey’s Lician Way takes place in Haile Village Hall tomorrow at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
DVDs stolen
A WHITEHAVEN man has been fined for stealing DVDs from Morrisons.
Greg Little, 35, of Queen Street, admitted taking the three items worth £22 and was fined £35 plus £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Little admitted a further charge of failing to answer bail and was fined £35.
