Cars vandalised

VANDALS have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to two cars in Whitehaven.

The vehicles were both scratched down the offside door and panels in the Hensingham area.

The first, a Kia Sportage, was vandalised between 5.30pm on Tuesday and 8.25am on Wednesday last week as it was parked on Ullswater Avenue. It will cost about £300 to repair.

A Mini Cooper car was scratched the following night, in Wythburn Road, causing £200 damage.

Theft charge

A WOMAN has appeared before magistrates accused of stealing £20,000 from her employer.

Lynda Addison, 45, of The Green, Lamplugh, faces five charges of fraud, and three of theft, including an allegation that she stole £15,000 in cash, between April 2010 and November 2011. Ms Addison is said to have stolen the money from Winters in Silloth.

She has been ordered to appear at the magistrates court in Carlisle, on December 6, when the case will be sent to Carlisle Crown Court.

Failed to stop

POLICE are appealing for information following a fail-to-stop collision at Cleator Moor.

The incident took place on Friday, October 5, at Crossfield Garage car park. Police say a white Mercedes was struck by a new, light blue Volkswagen golf. Officers would like to speak to the driver of the Volkswagen or any witnesses.

Farm fire

FIREFIGHTERS extinguished farm machinery which was ablaze at Kinniside on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were called at around 2.30pm.
