Bus accident

A GROUP of Whitehaven School pupils were forced to walk part of the way to school on Monday after their bus was involved in a minor crash.

The school’s double-decker bus on its way from Bransty had almost arrived at Whitehaven School when the accident happened at 8.45am.

It collided with a Honda Civic at the roundabout close to Whitehaven fire station, Hensingham, only yards from the school gates.

There were no injuries reported and Cumbria Police and Whitehaven firefighters attended to make the scene safe.

Arsonists

ARSONISTS who lit a fire outside a Whitehaven home are being sought by the police.

Items were set alight on the doorstep of a home at Buttermere Road between 10.30pm and 11pm on Sunday.

Nobody was in the house at the time of the incident. Witnesses are asked to telephone 101.

Teen fined

A MIREHOUSE teenager has been fined £65 for being threatening and abusive. Kane Johnson, 19, of Meadow Road, admitted the offence at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. He was ordered to pay £75 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Drunk in Tesco

A WOMAN has been fined £100 for being drunk and disorderly at Tesco in Whitehaven.

Maureen Burney, 60, of Meadow Road, admitted the offence at West Cumbria Courthouse last week. Magistrates ordered her to pay £75 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
