New turbine plan outlined

PLANNING permission is being sought for two 21.5m wind turbines at Wilton.

The application has been made by Mr T Dixon, of High House, who had previously applied for planning permission for a controversial 34.4m-high turbine.

That was denied after it attracted strong local opposition and was rejected by councillors on Copeland’s planning panel in July 2012.

Plans were then resubmitted due to paperwork discrepancies but were again turned down unanimously by councillors at a meeting in February 2013.

At the time Coun Mike McVeigh said: “It would criminal for such a horrendous blight to be put in this area.”

This latest application is for two 11kw Gaia wind turbines each mounted on 15m lattice masts with a maximum tip height of 21.5m. The agent is Sustainable Energy Systems Limited.
