McFly to play Whitehaven Festival

McFLY – one of the biggest pop bands to come out of the UK – are set to play in Whitehaven. And demand for tickets is so high it has already crashed a ticket website!

Have your say

Well done whitehaven! Me an Shakkie are coming over, hope the McFly boys make some berserk noise!

I couldn't be happier about this. I have travelled all over to see McFly since they've been about. Seen them 9 times in total so this is going to be my 10th (IN MY HOME TOWWWNNNN!!!). I have Harrys drumsticks, Toms sweaty towel and Dannys water bottle so this time I will have to get something off Dougie then I will have a complete colection! I will be the one stood outside from the early hours to make sure I get to the front. Ohhh yes!

I once went to give the lead guitarist of McFly a quote to re-roof a barn he had near Manchester. When I got up my ladder to have a look at the roof I found a Jackdaws nest. I told him that I wouldn't be able to do the job and left.

I think his name was 'Tom' or something but to be honest, he didn't seem interested.

In response to David Melvins comment earlier - I agree that all the people in McFly are ok but I disagree that the lead singer is the best. I much prefer the drummer.

Perhaps McFly could do their concert at the Dusty Miller and raise funds to repair the coastal cliff top path? If they could take some radioactive waste home with them they'll solve most of West Cumbrias problems with one stroke.
Then, 100 years from now, we could name a pub after them or something?

I went to see McFly in Runcorn and they were dead, dead good. I wore a hat and chucked it at the stage but I was too far away so it didn't reach. I saw a man wearing the hat in the car park after the gig but I never said anything.

My favourite one is the singer, he's ace, but I like the others too. I'm definitely going to see them in Whitehaven, I can't wait and I won't have to go all the way to Runcorn this time. So look out for me, I'll be the one standing nearer the front. With a heavier hat Mmmmmm!

So, Whitehaven is to be visited by pop 'superstar' MC Fly eh? I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering "MC Who????"

I was a big fan of MC Hammer and reasonably tolerant of the Rebel MC but this is a step too far. We don't WANT your 'gangsta rap' music here MC Fly....we are peaceful people and want nothing with the trouble your so called bad beats from the streets will bring. My message to you MC Fly is......BUZZ OFF!

Fantastic news for local tourism etc from Mr.Richardson and his team ! Well done, and thank you to you all for the many very successful events you've staged ! However, CBC should be ashamed of the way they treat the area. I've been involved in the local music scene for 20 years (I'm from Whitehaven) and have only found CBC to be a hindrance. In the early 90's the Castle Park Bandstand was used for all-day gigs, organised independantly from CBC, 1 weekend in a year, for 4 years. The first event lasted from 12 lunchtime - midnight, then the Council imposed increasing curfews year on year meaning the final one lasted from 2pm - 8pm (the organisers understandably gave up). Since then, the Bandstand has been used more often by painters removing graffiti. Likewise now, we are fighting to keep the Civic Hall open...when will Elaine Woodburn do something positive for Copeland and take an example from The Whitehaven Festival ?!?! We have demonstrated that the likes of Morrisey and now McFly will travel the terrible roads to get here, so CBC should be doing everything possible to stage similar events. I can feel a watery substance getting blown back in my direction as I type.
