Man beat woman

AN Egremont man must complete unpaid work in the community after he admitted assaulting a woman by beating her.
Philip Jackson, 26, of York Place, admitted the assault and to resisting arrest when he appeared at West Cumbria Courthouse on Monday.
Jackson must complete 120 hours of unpaid work and a one-year community order with supervision.
Court costs of £85 were also imposed.
