Making cash count

MONKWRAY Primary School pupils took part in a Thrifty shopping excercise with Andrea Dockeray the Credit Union.

The pupils had to take a mini shopping basket and go around four tables laid out with shopping items from four supermarkets, two normal and two budget.

The task was to buy food and essentials for a week on a budget of £25.

Andrea Dockeray said: “It really is a good exercise in managing money and shows the pupils that they really have to learn to be thrifty with their money in these tight economic times.”
