Major Whitehaven roadworks ahead

MAJOR roadworks are set to start on a Whitehaven town centre street this summer.

By Sarah Robinson

Cumbria County Council has confirmed resurfacing and drainage work will take place on Lowther Street but it is unable to say exactly when the work will be carried out and how long it will take.

In recent months, members of the community have contacted The Whitehaven News about the resurfacing and drainage issues on the road.

In January, we reported that some injured pedestrians who have fallen in potholes and large puddles have sought help from West Cumbria Society for the Blind, which is based nearby.

Staff said injured people – fully sighted, partially sighted and blind – have gone to the Lowther Street centre for help and some have even needed to go to A&E for treatment.

Hello 'Road runner'. You will shortly be getting an opportunity to get rid of Ms. Woodburn as council leader and those who keep her in position.
Vote for the Elected Mayor option on the 22nd of May to finally rid ourselves of these . . . well, I will leave to yourself to describe these people.
Time for change.
