Major music festival just got even better

A MAJOR music festival that will rock Whitehaven this month has been extended for an extra day.

By Andrew Clarke

The Mighty Boof’s At The Stadium festival will now take place on May 23, 24 and the bank holiday Sunday, May 25.

And festival-goers who have already bought a full weekend ticket will be able to enjoy the Sunday’s music at no extra cost. Individual day tickets for the event at Cumbria Sports Academy, Hensingham, are also available.

The Boof’s Josh Shepherd said: “Adding the extra day made sense. It’s a bank holiday weekend so why not have three days of music? It’s shaping up to be the best festival yet.”

The Saturday will be headlined by Reverend and the Makers, Goldie Lookin Chain, Space, John Power (of Cast and The La’s fame), The Tapestry and The Lottery Winners. Headlining the Friday are Twisted Wheel, Dexters, The 45s and Sound of Guns’ Andrew Metcalfe.

The new Sunday’s line-up includes The Sunshine Underground and The Family Rain, plus Oasis tribute band Oasish to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic Definitely Maybe album. Alongside the headliners are the best bands, acoustic acts and DJs on the local scene.

The Boof’s Danny Maudling said: “I bought The Family Rain’s album and they’re a band whose songs are instant hits; it’s outstanding.”

The Boof’s David Eldon added: “And we couldn’t let this year pass without celebrating Definitely Maybe.

“It’s not looking likely that we’ll get the real Oasis this year, so the perfect way to close our festival is having the next best thing!”

Tickets are £35 (full weekend), £20 (Friday only), £27 (Saturday only), £15 (Sunday only). Discounts for under-16s and under-12s, toddlers free. Available from Threads (Whitehaven), Alauna Salon (Maryport), 4 Play Cycles (Cockermouth) and www.mightyboofatthestadium.com.
