Magellan Park's success story

A WHITEHAVEN housing estate has earned a prestigious property award for its developers.
Story Homes’s Magellan Park won the top five star award for ‘Best Development in Cumbria’ at the Gaggenau UK Property Awards.
Magellan Park, at Kells, featured in the ITV4 documentary Rookie Builders, in which 22 young builders were challenged to create a detached four-bedroom luxury house in less than a year.
Magellan Park has only being ongoing for two years, yet this is the second year that it has won a UK Property Award. Judging was carried out through a meticulous process involving a panel of over 60 experts covering every aspect of the property business.
The next stage of the awards’ programme is for top scoring five-star winners of each category (including Magellan Park) to be re-judged against those from the other regions to determine the ultimate World’s Best winners. These will be announced at the grand final to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, on December 7.
Steve Errington, managing director at Story Homes, said: “We’re delighted to have this flagship scheme recognised again in these prestigious awards.
“We receive excellent feedback from buyers about the quality and specification of our houses but awards like these are judged by industry experts and we are up against many national companies. To win is a fantastic accolade for our staff as they continue to design and build award winning developments for our company.”
Graham Parker, technical director for Story Homes, attended the high profile gala presentation dinner to collect the award.
Pat Graham, director of services at Copeland Council, said: ‘This is excellent news for our area. We have a good relationship with Story Homes and the quality and specification of their properties can only enhance the appeal of Whitehaven further.”
Another Whitehaven housing development has been recognised with an award.
High Grange Developments’ Rowangate site at Hensingham has been named the LABC (Local Authority Business Control) Development of the Year.
The LABC recognises developments across Britain that deliver high-quality houses.
