‘Lotto win’ is a scam

TRADING Standards have warned against bogus letters purporting to offer foreign lottery winnings after Whitehaven woman Lita Parker was the latest recipient.

Sent by the Spanish-based Euromilliones Lottery International it told Lita, of Crummock Avenue, Woodhouse, that she had 985,000 Euros coming her way and of course, all they needed were her bank details to forward the money to her.

Lita, who hadn’t bought a ticket in a Spanish lottery, was suspicious and decided to alert others, via this newspaper, who might be taken in.

Pat Thomas, of Cumbria Trading Standards, said: “If you haven’t bought a ticket, it’s unlikely you will have won anything, be suspicious.

“If they are asking for your bank details, don’t send them. Just bin the letter.’’
