List of swine flu deaths in the UK (updated)

This list has been compiled from publicly reported deaths in UK newspapers. It does not include those swine flu deaths for which no details have been given.

TOTAL (as of January 14th): UK - 355, Scotland 63, Northern Ireland 17, Wales 28, England 251 (England figure only up to Jan 6) (Source: HPA).
The number of deaths now means it's not possible to keep this list going. It remains however as an archive of the first 150 or so deaths.
14 June 2009 - First death - Jacqui Fleming, 38/39 died giving birth at Carnwadric, south Glasgow (UHPs*)
15 June 2009 - Jack Fleming, son of Jacqui, dies
29 June 2009 - man, 73, Paisley, Scotland (UHPs) - second Scottish death

3 July 2009 - Man, 19, South London. Serious UHPs (first to die in London)
5 July 2009 - Abdullah Patel, 42, Dewsbury, Yorks (UHPs - lung and kidney problems)
6 July 2009 - Asmaa Hussain, Dewsbury, Yorkshire
7 July 2009 - Girl, 9, Lambeth, London (serious UHPs)
7 July 2009 - Man, 80, London
8 July 2009 - Baby aged six months at Royal Free Hospital, London (UHPs)
9 July 2009 - Chloe Buckley, 6/7, West London (septic shock as a result of tonsilitis)
9 July 2009 - Dr Michael Day, Luton, 64 (UHPs - heart disease, high blood pressure, viral pnuemonia)
10 July 2009 - healthy man, Basildon, Essex
15 July 2009 - Woman, London (UHPs)
15 July 2009 - woman tourist visiting Inverness, Scotland (significant UHPs). It is not said from which country (America?) the tourist came.
17 July 2009 - person dies in West Midlands - no other details given
17 July 2009 - pregnant woman, 39, Whipps Cross, East London. Baby later dies. Mother and baby said to have UHPs
17 July 2009 - Woman, Ruptara Miah, 39, at Leytonstone (just given birth)
21 July 2009 - Girl, 15, Glasgow, Scotland (UHPs) - fourth scottish victim
22 July 2009 - man, no age given. West Midlands. No UHPs
29 July 2009 - Newham (East London). Person dies (UHPs) - no other details given
31 July 2009 - Girl, 8, London (UHPs)

2 August 2009 - Godfrey Armstrong, Penwortham, Preston, Lancs, 55. No UHPs.
4 August 2009 - Soldier Lee Porter, Bisley, Surrey, 30 (no UHPs)
8 August 2009 - man, 26, Glasgow (fifth scottish death). Significant UHPs
9 August 2009 - Madelynne Butcher, 18, Southampton
14 August 2009 - adult dies in Birmingham (UHPs)
15 August 2009 - woman, 55, from Caerphilly, Wales (first Welsh victim)
22 August 2009 - Caroline Hoy, 39, Northern Ireland (First Northern Ireland victim - also suffering from cancer)
23 August 2009 - Farhin Essa, 15, Preston, Lancs. No mention of UHPs.
24 August 2009 - woman, 59, Islay, Argyll, Scotland (UHPs) - sixth scottish death
28 August 2009 - man, 52, Edinburgh; "significant UHPs" - seventh in Scotland
28 August 2009 - adult in Birmingham. Trust would not disclose age, sex or location
5 September 2009 - Boy, 7, Strood, Kent - later said not to be swine flu
11 September 2009 - Man, 53, Fife, Scotland - eighth Scottish death
15 September 2009 - Baby (Dept of Health wouldn't give age or sex) dies in Northern Ireland (second victim there). Some confusion in news reports over whether this was a swine flu death but it appears to have been included in that week's HPA figures. UHP - heart condition.
17 September 2009 - Woman dies in Lothians, Scotland - ninth Scottish victim ("significant UHPs")
20 September 2009 - Corina Richie, 21, from South Belfast, Northern Ireland - died while holidaying on Ibiza. No UHPs.
22 September 2009 - Louise Jones, 24, from Leigh, Greater Manchester. No UHPs. Announced 10 now dead from swine flu virus in NW.
1 October 2009 - Woman, 62, Forth Valley, Scotland ("significant UHPs) - tenth Scottish victim
1 October 2009 - Fifth Yorkshire victim dies - no other details given.
6 October 2009 - Child "under the age of three", from Lisburn or Co Down, Northern Ireland.
6 October 2009 - Child (no age given) in Hemsworth, West Yorks - "serious UHPs"
7 October 2009 - Aaron McBride from Killinchy, 12, died in Ulster hospital - "serious UHPs"
7 October 2009 - Woman, 43, from Carmarthenshire, Wales
9 October 2009 - Pregnant woman, 21, from Monmouthshire, Wales (baby safe and well).
11 October 2009 - A 42-year-old man from Glasgow (UHPs)
11 October 2009 - A 75-year-old man from Grampian region of Scotland. UHPs.
13 October 2009 - A 48-year-old man from Glasgow
13 October 2009 - A Fife woman aged 81
12 October 2009 - Maisie Price, aged eight, from Norwich, Norfolk. No UHPs.
14 October 2009 - A 41-year-old woman, from Neath Port Talbot, Wales.
14 October 2009 - Pregnant Denise Murray of Hawick, Roxburghshire, 17, and her baby dies, from Borders, Scotland,
15 October 2009 - David Hayes, 29, Llysfaen, north wales (died while on holiday in Spain)
17 October 2009 - Orla O'Kane, 14, Western Health Trust area, Northern Ireland
21 October 2009 - 59-year-old woman from Fife
21 October 2009 - Ashleigh Lynch, 14, Derry, Northern Ireland
21 October 2009 - Man, 69, Northern Ireland
21 October 2009 - Person (sex not stated) in Northern Ireland - bringing total in NI to ten
21 October 2009 - 58-year-old woman from Borders region of Scotland ("significant UHPs")

22 October 2009 - Sixteen-year-old boy from Glasgow
22 October 2009 - 54-year-old woman from Glasgow
22 October 2009 - 77-year-old man from Glasgow
22 October 2009 - 47-year-old woman from Fife
23 October 2009 - An 81-year-old woman at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital, Scotland ("significant UHPs")
23 October 2009 - A 50-year-old woman at Glasgow's Western Infirmary ("significant UHPs")
27 October 2009 - Father Edward O'Toole, of St Edward RC Church and St Cuthbert's RC Church, Wigan contracted the disease while visiting the Catholic shrine at Fatima, Portugal. Aged 47.
29 October 2009 - A person in Wales (no other details given). Brings total deaths in Wales to eight.
31 October 2009 - 3 deaths in Scotland (Glasgow and Ayshire)
2 November 2009 - Elderly man in Fife
3 November 2009 - Two Ayrshire residents
6 November 2009 - Adult dies in Ayrshire and Arran area of Scotland. "gender has not been revealed for reasons of confidentiality", said to have a “significant” underlying health condition.
12 November 2009 - Man, 67, from Hutton Row, Westoe, South Shields
14 November 2009 - Adult from Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, Scotland (UHPs)
14 November 2009 - Adult from Dumfries and Galloway area, Scotland (UHPs)
