There's some good news for motorists with the Lillyhall lights being removed.
But the lights at Howgate are still there are and appear to be creating longer queues than ever before.
It is still hoped that the Distington to Lillyhall bypass will be open before Christmas. A spokesman for the Highways Agency said that last-minute work is now taking place on the three-mile dual carriageway.
The £35m bypass scheme was expected to open in October but has been delayed because of the wet weather.
This whole bypass scheme wins the prize for the slowest and most pointless roadbuild in history. Its only 3 miles long so by the time you have got up to speed it will be time to slow down again. They will probably close it after a few months anyway as most locals wont know what to do when confronted with the novel concept of a duel carrigeway.

Its good that the Lillyhall lights have gone but the Howgate lights are a pain! These roundabouts should have been completed before the actual by-pass to minimise disruption, the amount of traffic that is cutting through Lowca as a result of the lights is terrible, the sooner they get the new race track, oops sorry i mean new road opened the better, I just hope they move the "safety" cameras onto the parton stretch of the A595 to slow the traffic down once they get back onto the 40 M.P.H road.
