WOULD-BE thieves tried unsuccessfully to break into a home on Crummock Avenue, Whitehaven, between December 24 and 27. Around £100 of damage to a window was caused in the incident.
Pub targeted
THE Globe pub in Cleator Moor has been targeted by thieves.
The Aldby Street pub was broken into around 2am on December 29 and bottles of alcohol were taken.
Car broken into
A PARKED car has been broken into and skiing equipment stolen.
The BMW was targeted while parked at Steel Brow between 12.45am and 3pm on December 16.
The car had broken down and its owner had parked it up and secured it. The rear window was broken by the thieves to gain entry.
Failed to stop
POLICE in Whitehaven are investigating a fail-to-stop car crash in the Hillcrest area.
The offending vehicle struck a wall on Springfield Avenue but the driver didn’t stop.
It happened in the early hours of December 19.

Drugs charges
A WOMAN has been charged with possessing two Class B drugs with intent to supply.
Lucy Bennett, 36, of Burnmoor Avenue, Mirehouse, did not enter a plea at a court hearing this week. The case has been adjourned until February 28, when it will be formally committed to Carlisle Crown Court.
Sex case
LEWIS Young, 20, of Mariners Way, Hensingham, has denied inciting a girl aged 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The case has been adjourned until February 28, when it will be formally committed to Carlisle Crown Court.
