Hometown launch for Emma’s debut album

EMMA Dockeray’s first EP, Whispers, is out on Saturday. And the Whitehaven singer/songwriter is celebrating the launch at The Rum Story in her home town.

Passion: Emma on song at the recent At The Stadium festival

By Lucy Grosvenor

The five-track album is the culmination of some very late nights in the recording studio for the Leeds College of Music student.

Emma said: “It’s very exciting to finally be able to hold the finished product which I have put my heart and soul into.

“A lot of effort has gone into this EP and I can’t wait to share my music with my friends and family.”

Emma is having an intimate gig on Saturday night where she will be performing her new tracks.

“I had to have the launch here in Whitehaven, it’s home,” said Emma. “For me, my music career started here; I was a member of Theatre of Youth, and a regular member of Soundwave at the Civic Hall.

“So it seems fitting for me to celebrate my first EP with the people who have supported me for so long.”

Emma’s solo EP is just the start of a very busy musical summer.

She will be gigging and getting some radio time as well as hopefully releasing another EP with her band at the end of August.

She said: “Music is my passion and songwriting has a special place in my heart.

“I am so honoured I get to do what I love every day.”

Emma added: “Whispers is a chance for my fans to hear what I have been up to at university, and I hope they enjoy it.”

Saturday’s launch is an invite-only event, however the album will be available to purchase at The Rum Story for £3 and also online via Emma’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Emma-Dockeray
