No MRSA superbugs

THERE have been no incidents of MRSA superbug at West Cumberland Hospital or Cumberland Infirmary for 23 months now.

As a result of the good figures, the North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust has now been set a target of zero for 2012/13, against last year’s target of no more than four cases. The trust also kept within its figures for cases of C-Difficile in 2011/12 with 53 cases in total against a target of no more than 69.

This, the trust board heard on Tuesday, was down to the “excellent work” by the staff.

This year’s target for C-Difficile is to have no more than 40 cases.
