Village rallies round to help cancer unit

BIGRIGG is pulling out all the stops to help the Henderson Suite, the cancer unit of West Cumberland Hospital.

On Saturday, April 12, the village is holding a fundraising walk, due to start and finish at Bigrigg Village Hall, setting off at 1.30pm.

It will take approximately two hours, mainly on the cyclepath and pathways which is suitable for all.

Those taking parts are asked to wear walking boots, trainers or sturdy shoes and bring a lightweight waterproof.

There is also a shorter version.

There will be a treasure hunt for children with clues along the route. Unfortunately due to a number of kissing gates and stiles the walk is not suitable for prams or wheelchair users.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

The fee for each walker is £10 (over 18) and £2 if at secondary school. There is no fee for infant/junior school children.

The fee includes homemade refreshments afterwards. There will also be a raffle and tombola in the village hall (all donations gratefully received).

Prize bingo will be held on Friday, April 11, starting at 7.30pm in Bigrigg Village Hall. All ages groups welcome.

For further details regarding the walk please contact Paula Ratcliffe 01946 810828 or for the bingo Sheila Ratcliffe 01946 822933. Both will happily collect any donations/prizes or they can be left at Bigrigg Post Office.
