AN excellent standard of entries were on display at Egremont’s La’al Onion Club annual show, say organisers.
Members displayed their homegrown produce at the show, held at Egremont Catholic Club on Saturday.
Keith Bell won first place for best onion in show and he also gained the top spot in the supreme onion class.
Brian Foster won the heaviest onion category, with his onion weighing 5lb 12ozs.
The title for most improved grower was awarded to Paul Cook and Frank Kirk.
The competition was judged by Ernest Ridley of Aspatria.
Club chairman John Edwards said: “A grand day was had by all members, the standard of the onions was excellent despite the weather we have had this year.”
The Club would like to say a big thank you to Keith Benn, for all the hard work and commitment he has shown to the Club in the last 10 years as honorary secretary, and wish him all the best in the future.
