Giving a colourful boost to town’s market
Last updated at 12:01, Thursday, 14 August 2014
NEARLY 2,000 people shopped at Whitehaven’s second market festival, organised through the website, Visit Whitehaven.
Founder Luke Johnston, 16, said: “It was great to see so many people in the Market Place. We want to revive our historic town, and more people than ever turned up to support local businesses.”
There was dancing from Stage Stars and singing from Cory Spedding.
Luke added: “It is important to put money back into the local economy. On Saturday there was something for everyone with many crafty stalls, food, jewellery and handmade gifts. This was reflected in the variety of ages who came into the town to shop.”

Have your say
Lee, Great idea for the portaloos on the harbour. I have my own design business and would be more than happy to help you put some designs together to put forward to the Harbour Commision. If this is something you want to look into please add me on FB and then I can communicate my details more securely. Thanks Daniel Wroe LTD
The idea of Lee's Loos (sorry Lee) sound good, especially the portakabin. Perhaps the Harbour Commissioners could come up with some alternative designs that they think would be suitable, rather than just rejecting the idea. That would be a starting point to solving the problem.
