Last updated at 10:33, Thursday, 19 June 2008
LAST weekend saw the return of the popular Drigg and Carleton gala, with children taking part in a variety of events from fancy dress competitions and racing to dance displays.
Gala Queen Dani Lewis, with princesses Victoria Shepherd and Esme Ellison led this years parade through the town to the Victoria Hotel field where the Whitehaven Harbour Cannon was fired to officially start the events.
The day included a number of dance displays, juggling and climbing, ending in suspense with the competative boys v girls tug of war match.
Live entertainment in the Victoria Hotel was provided in the evening with a performance from Once Over (formerly the Rat Pack), and the drawing of the Gala raffle.
