MARIE Scott, chairman of West Cumbria Society for the Blind, has accepted a cheque for £300 from editor Colin Edgar on behalf of The Whitehaven News Charitable Trust
happy to help: Marie Scott, chairman of West Cumbria Society for the Blind, accepts a cheque for £300 from editor Colin Edgar on behalf of The Whitehaven News Charitable Trust. The money will go towards the latest talking reading machine for the visually impaired – the £2,000 Optelec ClearReader machine has a camera on an arm which can swing over a book or document and then either read aloud or blow the words up onto a large screen. One is kept at the society’s shop and office on Lowther Street, Whitehaven, for users
