Firefighters were called to a rubbish fire inside a disused factory in Cleator.
The emergency call came in at about 5.25pm, to reports that the former Kangol factory was ablaze.
Two fire appliances from Whitehaven were sent to the scene, where they discovered a rubbish fire inside one of the empty rooms
They managed to extinguish the fire within minutes.
The former hat factory is currently disused since Kangol stopped manufacturing in 2009.
It is owned by London-based Hampton Investment Properties and Distington’s Gates Bros, who have been in discussion with Copeland Council with a view to redevelop the site for housing and employment use.
