Fight to reopen Civic Hall goes on

PLANS to re-open Whitehaven Civic Hall are still ongoing as potential users are contacted.

By Mark White

The Whitehaven Civic Community Partnership (WCCP) has been working tirelessly in a bid to re-open the popular venue following its closure last year, which devastated the community.

Letters have been sent out to potential users about if and how they would use the hall if it was to re-open.

Don Messenger, a member of WCCP, said: “We’re still looking over our proposal and doing modifications to the business plan. We have sent letters out to the anyone who could be a potential user of the hall, so that includes clubs, businesses and other groups.”

Anyone who believes they would be a potential user of the Civic Hall and has yet to receive a letter should contact Don at don.messenger@talktalk.net

Have your say

I think it could be managed by volunteers if reopened west Cumbria Whitehaven in particular need these places as there is absolutely nothing for people know I moved back to my birth place and went once to the civic hall I just wish it was still open as I would and many I have talked to would be going regular .

Whats the worry, the council already knows nuclear managment partners has said they will have it,go and ask them, but as usual they keep the good news and release it to cover over the bad news, politics the sneaky way, install fears, uncertainty and worry, then give the locals the good news makes them look good and sellafield becomes the local hero again,go and ask the council they already know.
