Juniors to join school

ST Bees School is to open its doors to younger pupils by creating a junior class.

From September, the school’s entry age will be lowered to eight years, while retaining the traditional entry points at 11, 13 and 16 years.

Philip Capes, headmaster of St Bees School, said: “This is an exciting new development for St Bees. The curriculum of our junior class will be far broader than that usually offered to this age group.

“Although the focus on the basic skills of literacy and numeracy would remain, a wide range of other subjects and activities would be incorporated into the timetable utilising the easily accessible resources of the Senior School,’’ he said.

For more details telephone the school on 01946 828000.
