Former pupil Kate runs engineering activity

A FORMER St Benedict’s pupil has returned to the school to help deliver a workshop to the next generation of engineers.
Kate Adamson, now a chemical engineer on the nuclear graduate scheme, was joined by other nuclear graduates from Sellafield and Rolls Royce to run an engineering activity with a group of Year 8 pupils.
The pupils were challenged with a bridge-building competition using K’Nex. Each team had a STEM ambassador as a mentor to help them plan and design their bridge, which had to span across a gap between two tables and take the weight of six bottles of water.
After a close-run contest, Ryan Adams, Robbie Arins and Aaron Padley were declared as the winning team.
