Hairstyle prompts exclusion

ANOTHER student has been excluded from classes over his hairstyle.

After a Whitehaven School pupil was banned last week, Millom School has taken a similar ‘zero-tolerance’ approach by excluding 14 year-old Christopher Taylor.

Christopher, who lives in Wholehouse Road, Seascale, was informed on Monday that his two blonde streaks in his hair were not appropriate and he was left to sit in isolation in an excluded room.

His parents, Phillip and Amanda, were at the school yesterday pleading Christopher’s case for a rethink on the banning order.

Mrs Taylor said: “It seems incredible that a school that has been in special measures should be taking this sort of stance.

“Christopher was doing well academically and we hope he is set to get A levels. This seems unnecessary action, it is just two blonde streaks.”
