Drivers rolled vehicles

TWO motorists found themselves upside down in their cars at Santon Bridge.
Kyle Anthony Blows, 19, of Montreal Place, Moor Row, and Daniel Ditchburn, 20, of Crow Park, Cleator Moor, both admitted careless driving.
Whitehaven magistrates heard how Blows had been driving from Nether Wasdale to Santon Bridge when he lost control and rolled his car which ended up on the roof.
His friend, Ditchburn, who was following in another car tried to avoid colliding with Blows’ vehicle and he too rolled his car which landed on the roof.
John Wilson, prosecuting, said there was no suggestion the pair had been drinking or racing.
Blows told the court he had braked too sharply, panicked and lost control of his car.
He was fined £240, £15 victims support with £25 costs.
Ditchburn explained how he too had panicked when he saw his friend’s car and had tried to avoid him.
He was fined £110, £15 victims surcharge with £25 costs.
