DJ Dan makes waves across the Atlantic

A TEENAGE DJ is hosting his own online show after his set was picked up by a Chicago-based radio station.

Stateside success: DJ Dan Jackson, from Summergrove, is enjoying success on the decks

By Julie Morgan

Dan Jackson, of Summergrove, initially showcased his electronic dance music mix on Sound Cloud, an online audio distribution platform.

It was subsequently heard by producers from internet station, Pure EDM Radio who, impressed by his mixes, offered him a two-hour show from 6pm to 8pm each Tuesday night.

The 17-year-old, who attends St Benedict’s School sixth form, has been mixing music for just 12 months and has DJd at last summer’s Cock Rock with his friend, Max Spedding.

His radio show has been running for the past month. Dan said: “I have some good feedback on the shows. I just play what I like and I barely speak!’’

Pure EDM Radio states it is the only station “that brings you DJs from all over the world spinning live at all times of the day”. Featured on the site are DJs from Florida, Mexico and Kenya.

Sound Cloud had 10 million registered users in 2012 and enables them to “upload, record, promote and share their originally-created sounds”.
