Did dog Rocky find meteor fragment?

HAS a piece of the Russian meteor been found in Egremont? A family is asking readers of The Whitehaven News to help solve the mystery.
Lee Potts was out walking his dog Rocky Junior on Saturday – the day after a giant meteor shower rained down on Russia – when the Staffy sniffed out this unusual piece of rock (pictured below).
Lee’s mum Linda, of Coleridge Drive, Orgill, said: “Rocky and Lee were out walking on the fields next to the old Wyndham School and the dog went straight over to it.
“The rock seems burned and it’s really heavy in weight. With it being found the morning after the Russian meteor shower, we’re not sure what it could be or what to do with it now.”
They have since kept the rock wrapped in protective tin foil.
If any readers can help Linda and Lee identify the rock email andrew.clarke@whitehaven-news.co.uk

Russia? Egremont? A dog finding a stone....so it's a meteorite???? Has anyone actually stopped and thought about this 'story' for a second??
This is perhaps the most un newsworthy story I've ever heard, and that's saying something, because I once heard a story about an exceptionaly large Heron in Holmerook!View all 9 comments on this article

Have your say
Professor Bernard Quatermass has already confirmed that the mass should have no alien organisms, although, he did recommend the wearing of Marigolds!
Just caught Bruce Willis in time before he boarded 'Airforce One' with his emergency crew. Thank goodness for that.
All seems to be well in West Cumbria, although, and it's a big 'although', some strange people have been sighted of late.
The truth is out there.
